Rescue Stories

Turkey Rescue Stories

Since 1986, Farm Sanctuary has rescued more than one thousand turkeys and given them a second chance at life. Many of the turkeys came to us after being abandoned when they were sick or injured, some were saved from transport disasters, and others were rescued from reckless turkey "give away" promotions and from factory farms. Though their stories differ, all of the animals have one thing in common: They needed refuge from the cruelties of "food animal" production, and Farm Sanctuary was there to provide it. Here are some of their heartwarming tales of rescue.
