FARM SANCTUARY'S TURKEY EXPRESS DELIVERS FOUR LUCKY BIRDS TO A FAMILY IN SOCIAL CIRCLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Turkeys Saved from the Thanksgiving Dinner Table to Spend the Rest of Their Lives in Peace

Social Circle, GA - November 16, 2006 - Escorted via Farm Sanctuary's Turkey Express vehicle, on Friday morning, November 17 at 9:00 am, four turkeys will join the Smith family to live out their lives, safe from the Thanksgiving dinner table. Cricket, Forest, Buttercup and Dutch will be delivered via the Turkey Express - part of Farm Sanctuary's national Adopt-A-Turkey Project, now in its 21st year.

Kate Walker, Farm Sanctuary's placement coordinator, who will deliver the turkeys to the Smith family, said, "To travel across the country and meet so many caring individuals willing to take these stunning birds into their homes is a heartwarming reminder of the true meaning of Thanksgiving. The Smith family has created a Thanksgiving where everyone, even the turkeys, can be thankful."

"I feel privileged to be part of this program which encourages people to be compassionate instead of cruel, or - perhaps equally as detrimental - indifferent," said Victoria Smith. "What a better society we would have if everyone followed this lead."

Through Farm Sanctuary's Adopt-A-Turkey Project, Families can choose to adopt turkeys into their homes while others may decide to "adopt" turkeys who live at Farm Sanctuary through sponsorship donations. Those interested in adopting turkeys can contact shelter@farmsanctuary.org. Anyone interested in sponsoring a turkey can visit http://www.adoptaturkey.org or call 1-888-SPONSOR.
